Reading Rocks This Summer: Arkansas Virtual Academy’s Summer Reading Kickoff! 

Summer is the perfect time for students to relax and recharge, but it’s also a crucial season to keep reading muscles strong! At Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA), we know how important it is for students to stay engaged with books over the summer, not just for fun but to maintain the skills they’ve worked so hard on throughout the school year. That’s why we’re excited to offer two amazing, easy-to-use programs that make summer reading motivating, rewarding, and full of adventure. 

Dive Into Scholastic Home Base — Your Digital Reading Playground 

First up, meet Scholastic Home Base—a safe, free digital world designed especially for young readers. This vibrant platform is packed with book-based games, live author events, and creative activities that bring stories to life. The best part? There are no downloads, fees, or subscriptions—just pure, accessible reading fun anytime, anywhere. 

Scholastic Home Base invites ARVA students to explore new titles, connect with other readers, and enjoy interactive learning in a safe, moderated space. It’s a perfect complement to summer reading because it keeps kids inspired and entertained while they discover new books. Students and parents can access this platform through the LC Community.  

Join the “Reading Rocks with ARVA” Challenge — Read, Log, and Earn Prizes! 

To make summer reading even more exciting, ARVA proudly presents the Reading Rocks with ARVA challenge! This program encourages students to choose books they love, track their progress with a simple Reading Log, and celebrate their achievements with fun rewards. 

Here’s how it works: 

• Track Your Books: Students record the titles and authors of every book they finish, either on a physical log or digitally. 
• Celebrate Milestones: 
• Every participant earns a Certificate of Achievement—because every book counts! 
• Reading 25 or more books enters students into a drawing for cool prizes like bookmarks, stickers, or pens and pencils. 
• And for those who read 50 or more books? They’ll be in a special drawing to win exclusive Reading Rocks with ARVA T-shirts and other exciting prizes.
