LITTLE ROCK — Five students at the Arkansas Virtual Academy, including Annabella Addison of Lonoke, recently placed in the top 10 in the spring qualifier of the Microsoft Office Specialist Arkansas State Championship.
Addison, a ninth grader, finished in 8th place. The others include Anthony Venturella-Michel Jr. of Rogers, 9th grade, 2nd place; Emma Vodrazka of Conway, 10th grade, 4th place; Samuel Gordon of Mountain Home, 9th grade, 7th place; and Connor Hughes of Manila, 12th grade, 10th place.
The five ARVA students competed against other students from across Arkansas to earn the placement. Venturella-Michel Jr. earned a perfect score in the competition.
To compete in the qualifier, students aged 13 to 22 were eligible to participate in one of six competition tracks by submitting a qualified, passing score on the Microsoft Office Specialist Word, Excel or PowerPoint certification exams by May 2. First-place winners will get to represent Arkansas at the upcoming 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in Dallas.
During the national competition, first-place winners will compete in their exam track, network with other top students from around the country, and be celebrated. One winner per track will be named the champion and earn a trip to represent the United States at the 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in Orlando, Fla.
