Letter from Our Head of School
As a publicly-funded online charter school, the Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA) makes it easy for you to be an active participant in your child’s education. ARVA families receive a complete set of curriculum, lesson planning programs, books and instructional materials, the use of a computer for qualifying students, subsidized Internet access for qualifying students, and the guidance of a highly-qualified, licensed teacher. In short, everything needed for an excellent education is provided for students participating in our unique and forward-thinking approach to learning.
The Arkansas Virtual Academy uses the world-class K12 curriculum. With this innovative learning program, ARVA provides an education that meets or exceeds state standards. Because Arkansas Virtual Academy is a publicly-funded open-enrollment charter school, students are required to participate in state-mandated standardized achievement tests to demonstrate content understanding and academic progress, and achievement measures such as state testing are important to us as we work to ensure that each of our students is excelling in his/her academic pursuits.
We strive to create a balanced approach in educating our students that provides the support and student-centered focus required to meet the needs of students as unique and individual learners, and we work to strengthen our learning community through developing age-appropriate school outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating parks, local zoos, and other interesting and enjoyable sites. Events such as these bring families together and create real connections within the ARVA community, while providing enriching opportunities that compliment the curricular interests of our students.
We are very proud of our students’ successes and the support system we have in place for them through our outstanding parents, faculty, and community. ARVA students continue to excel as learners in an age of new technology, and we believe that our school provides an excellent choice for families who are interested in being actively involved in their children’s education. We hope to welcome you soon to the Arkansas Virtual Academy community.
