What is the Student Advisory Council?

The Student Advisory Council is a select group of K12-powered students from around the country who serve as advisors for their peers as well as brand ambassadors for K12 and their schools. Through this paid internship opportunity, they provide valuable feedback and insight about their experiences with career readiness education.

Fall 2023 Cohort

May Litaker- Cohort 2023 ARVA

May Litaker

Arkansas Virtual Academy

Career Field: Arts, A/V Technology & Communications: Advertising & Graphic Design

Grade: 12

Hobbies: Drawing, crafting, writing, reading, singing, listening to music, and fashion studies

I chose graphic design as my pathway because I am in pursuit of a career in animation. I have always been fascinated by an animator’s ability to bring a drawing to life in the form of entertainment. Being in the graphic design pathway gives me experience in commonly used art software such as Photoshop and Illustrator, which, in turn, allows me to expand my abilities as an artist in many fields.

Reigan Anderson- Cohort 2023 ARVA

Reigan Anderson

Arkansas Virtual Academy

Career Field: Health Science

Grade: 12

Hobbies: Writing, reading, and drawing

I’ve always been very keen on the human form. Whether I express that through my art or reading up on the human body, I’ve always found it incredibly fascinating, and it’s been a dream of mine to become a doctor for as long as I can remember. I chose the medical professions pathway to deepen my understanding of the human body and gain a sense of what it’s like to be a healthcare provider.

Mahogany Mooney

Arkansas Virtual Academy

Career Field: Trade and Industry: Visual Arts

Hello, I am Mahogany. I am a senior at Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA) in the graphic design career pathway. I can confidently say that ARVA is the best school I have attended. Being a student here has allowed me to accomplish so much in preparation for a career in film which is my chosen major at the University of Memphis. I have gained a certification in Adobe and have even been able to meet with professionals in the film industry. Also, the experience of being on the Student Advisory Council has provided knowledge of marketing and allows me to be a leader in my school. My biggest goal is to start my own production company where I would like to produce and sponsor talented youth.
